Tesla Powerwall – WA’s First Install
Wayne, a WA resident based in St James, has become one of the first homeowners in the state to install a Tesla Powerwall at his property.
Wayne cites wanting to help the environment as his main motivation to install a solar power battery system, “I’m a firm believer that coal and other fossil fuels are well and truly on their way out. It makes sense in a country like Australia to be making the most of renewable energy sources like solar and wind power.”
In recent years, the technology surrounding solar has advanced at an exponential rate, with increasingly efficient and affordable photovoltaic cells (solar panels) and batteries available for residential use, including Tesla Powerwall.
For homeowners like Wayne, Tesla Powerwall is the cherry on top of the solar sundae, “Powerwall gives us the added advantage of not only being able to generate our own power during the day, but instead of disappearing back into the grid in the evening, store and use it ourselves.”
Wayne was referred to Infinite Energy by friends and family who had chosen the company as their preferred solar provider, “I had spoken to some friends of mine at work who had put solar on their roofs in the last six months by Infinite Energy. They all said they’d been well looked after, and the installers not only showed up on time, but did a thorough, professional job.
“Our energy consultant at Infinite Energy, Gabor, had a great attitude. Our roof was a bit on the complicated side, but Gabor’s attitude of ‘It’s no problem, we'll get them on somehow,’ put us immediately at ease. Since then, everything’s been great and we’ve been kept informed every step of the way.”
Wayne hopes to see reduced energy bills thanks to his new solar system and Powerwall battery, as well as a greater understanding of how his household uses energy, “I would say that we’re fairly heavy users of power from the grid, so we’re definitely excited at the cost aspect of generating our own power.
“We're also looking forward to being able to see exactly how much power we’re actually using and when thanks to the inbuilt monitoring, which will be a lot to different to getting our bill every two months. This way, we’ll be able to use the maximum amount of power without drawing anything from the grid.”
The technological novelty of Tesla Powerwall isn’t lost on Wayne either, “We’re one of the first households in Perth to have Powerwall, which is pretty cool.”
