The Western Australian Government has handed down its 2016-17 State Budget, which includes increases to WA electricity prices across the board.

These increases (listed below) will apply to all residences and businesses on gazetted tariffs in Perth and the South West of Western Australia who are supplied by Synergy, as well as those outside the South West who are supplied by Horizon Power.

Electricity price rises for homeowners:

The Residential (A1) Tariff applies to almost all households in Western Australia. As a homeowner, you can expect your electricity bill to increase by 3% per bill cycle, which is down 1.5% from last year’s increase of 4.5%. The budget also forecasts an electricity price increase of 7% over the next three years.

While the state government has pushed introducing Full Retail Contestability (FRC) for the electricity market back to 2018, there are options available to lower household energy costs in the meantime. These include installing a solar energy system or investing in a battery storage system.

Come 2018, Infinite Energy will be in the unique position to offer a suite of innovative new tariff options to help households save on electricity bills.

Electricity price rises for businesses:

Businesses in WA on gazetted electricity tariffs are facing an average price increase of 12.6% across all tariffs, with the Large Business High Voltage (T1) Tariff facing the greatest increase of 22.5%, and the Small Business (L1/ L2) and the Small Business Time of Use (R1) Tariffs the lowest at a 3% increase.

To protect businesses from rising energy prices, Infinite Energy offers contestable electricity customers in Perth and the South West of Western Australia a real alternative for their electricity supply.
