St Mary’s Anglican Girls’ School has a proud tradition. Founded in 1921 by the formation of two private West Perth schools, since 1970 St Mary’s operates solely from its 40 acre Karrinyup location now catering for students from Kindergarten to Year 12. St Mary’s is renowned for its high level of academic achievement. For almost one hundred years the school has provided the environment to nurture our leaders of the future.
St Mary’s has been looking for a way to reduce its electricity costs and to further reduce its carbon footprint. St Mary’s approached Infinite Energy in July of 2014 to help the school source more of its electricity from an economic, renewable and sustainable energy source. Having already installed three solar PV systems totaling almost 30kW, St Mary’s was looking for a partner with the electrical engineering, installation and feasibility analysis capability and experience to increase the system size.
Infinite Energy drew upon its consulting expertise to design the most environmentally and economically optimal solution for the school. Infinite Energy also utilised its design, engineering and project management expertise to incorporate the three existing systems into a larger 100kW array at the single electricity network connection point. Infinite Energy designed, constructed, installed and commissioned a 68kW high quality solar PV system and successfully designed, engineered and commissioned the network protection equipment and real-time generation, grid export and consumption monitoring systems.
Situated only one kilometre from the ocean St Mary’s chose to utilise the recommended highest quality components namely REC solar PV panels, SMA grid-tied inverters and the Australian made SunLock mounting frame. Infinite Energy has also designed, installed and commissioned an SMA real-time PV generation, grid export, PV consumption and grid consumption monitoring solution.
